The Death
Of Our Constitutional Republic

The wisdom of the founding fathers is evident in the creation of our Constitutional Republic that was designed to prevent excessive government control. They specifically created the U.S. Constitution to limit all branches of government. Article 1, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution grants “ALL” legislative powers to congress and Article 3, Section 2 gives the court jurisdiction to decide if the laws are constitutional.
Socialist discovered this form of government does not promote the acquisition of total power via the ballot box. Liberals realized the path to total control is through the courts. Beginning with FDR’s attempt to illegally “pack the Supreme Court”, Liberals have spent over 75 years working to create a Judicial Oligarchy that will buttress their stranglehold on power. Never has this been more obvious than during this election.
In September 2001, Obama admitted that he thought “the Warren Court wasn't that radical and didn't break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution…” Obama proclaimed the Constitution “… is a charter of negative liberties... and it doesn't say what the government must do on your behalf." Sen. Joe Biden admitted during the debate with Gov. Sarah Palin that ideology should be the bases in choosing a Supreme Court justice. On October 31st, a confident Obama reaffirmed this policy when he said, “I think that what you can ask a judge is about their judicial philosophy… so my criteria would be, if a justice tells me that they only believe in the strict letter of the Constitution that means that they probably don't believe in a right to privacy that may not be perfectly enumerated in the Constitution but, you know, that I think is there.” It’s not!
Of course Liberals will claim this is just a “right-wing” conspiracy, but Supreme Court Justice Breyer even admitted he frequently makes decisions about a law's constitutionality using standards other than merely interpreting the text of the Constitution. In doing so Breyer promotes the liberal agenda and usurps legislative authority while diminishing the rule of law. Obama agrees that judicial decisions that promote the Marxist agenda can be based on fictitious rights and personal preferences and not as a matter of law. Liberals want a Socialist government that has sole power via the courts to limit our freedoms.
If a law passed by a legislative body or by the people via a ballot initiative is contrary to the Liberal Democrat agenda, then they rely on Liberal activist judges to overturn the will of the people by ruling against the law or create a new law.
Here are a few examples. In 2000, 61% of California voters passed Proposition 22, the Defense of Marriage Act. Then four California Supreme Court Justices overruled the proposition and erroneously declared same-sex marriage a right under the California Constitution. California Proposition 187 (1994) was designed to deny illegal immigrants social services, health care, and public education. It passed with 59% of the vote and then overturned by a liberal federal court. California Proposition 140 (1990) was passed by the voters and established term limits for state legislators. It was overturned by a liberal federal court judge.
Liberal judges have created “Constitutional rights” that are not enumerated anywhere in the Constitution. In San Diego, CA, a liberal atheist claimed the cross honoring veterans on Mount Soledad was a violation of the mythological "wall" between church and state and wanted it removed. In a referendum more than 75% voted to keep the cross and a liberal activist federal judge ordered the cross removed. Liberal activist judges use distorted interpretations of the First Amendment to forbid religious expressions, Christmas scenes or the Ten Commandments to be exhibited in public. In deciding Griswold v. Connecticut (1965) the Supreme Court created a non-existent Constitutional right to privacy, which Obama agrees mysteriously exist, and was the fraudulent bases to justify Roe v. Wade.
Georgia passed a law to require photo identification at the polls, which would prevent the massive voter fraud now being perpetrated by liberal Democrats and ACORN. A liberal federal judge issued an injunction against the enforcement of the law. In order to continue the indoctrination of children in public schools a liberal California judge declared that parents "do not have a constitutional right to home-school their children."
Anti-death and Liberal activist Judge Stephen Reinhardt overturned a death penalty because the trial judge “failed to instruct the jury that it was required to consider the defendants aptitude for prison life.” In Louisiana v. Kennedy, a death penalty case, Supreme Court Justice Kennedy described the Constitution as "Evolving standards of decency… and the punishment of criminals must conform to that rule." The problem is whose standards? And if that’s the case why even have a Constitution? I fear Obama and Liberal Democrats have us on a fast tract to a nation no longer governed by the rule of law but by the rule of a Liberal Oligarchy with robed lawyers titled "justices" enacting their own policy preferences.

When I drive around my town, I see more and more signs in Spanish trying to lure potential Hispanics customers to spend money or to vote. At the DMV, manuals are also written in Armenian, Chinese, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. At school, the simple mention of a bilingual family, even for an A student in English, triggers a process that involves the one on one testing of the child, and brings offers for special help and treatment. On the phone, in the voting booth, at the ATM, or at the self checking counters of a local grocery or hardware store, customers are also asked for the language of their choice. Finally, soon enough, to add to the shinning Golden Mausoleum-looking giant Mormon temple, we will commute everyday under a seven story high minaret that will remind me of the good old days when I lived in Chad or visited Tunisia!
Maybe I am just cranky…Again, California celebrated Cinco di Mayo, the short lived victory of a foreign army over another foreign army in a foreign country. Again, California ignored Ocho di Mayo (oooops….May 8th, V day Europe….no biggie!) like we have already mostly ignored Siete de Deciembre last year (Pearl Harbor). It is not in the school curriculum, the teacher said. Pearl Harbor? She cannot talk about it for five minutes?
When I drive around my town today, I get this strange feeling that I am being quietly being assimilated, slowly but surely amalgamated to other foreign cultures that “de-me” a piece at a time while keeping their identities. I happen to be a white, Caucasian, Catholic and Westerner from France. When I decided to move abroad, I chose a country I could relate too, a place that I thought was built upon the same things that made what I am, a place my children could grow in, And I came here. But now I am confused. What is it to be an American? How do Americans define themselves? Can one individual be multicultural? Can society be multicultural and work? Is integration or diversity the cement of a working society? Is diversity an indicator of equality, the base of a working society?
I am already having a hard time with my “whiteness” because here, it seems to carry all the guilt of the world! Look at the racially charged 08 presidential campaign the left has run: only Democrats and black civil right activists could question the race of the new messiah, call him racially charged names, or just question him on how –as a poor for the poor- he paid his way through years of private colleges and Ivy leagues places of higher learning. Think about it: white voters would be as racially motivated to vote as black voters are, Obama would not even be a senator, so drop affirmative action and don’t pull the race card on me, please. Or just ask my sixth grader…she has already learned about how bad Americans can be: she knows everything about the discrimination against the Chinese that built the railways, the Mexican immigrants that do the work we don’t want to do, and the Japanese that were interned during WW2. Social studies it is called…and we still have enough time left to talk about Native Americans, African Americans and Muslims in the post 9-11 world. That is for sure making our kids proud of their heritage, right? And you wonder why they need Ritalin…In the meantime, they are only presented with one side of the big picture, not told about the white guys who died by the thousand to end slavery, not told that slavery is still part of many African cultures and mentalities, or how modern black Americans have the same opportunities and right has she has (one is about to be President!). She is not told why Mexican farm workers are actually illegal modern day slave workers exploited by highly subsidized farms and supported by the lefties, or how merciless a country Japan was during WW2 (death march of Bataan, Rape of Nanking, POW treatment, slave sex workers, slave labor….), etc, etc…and Pearl Harbor and V day Europe are not even talked about on May 8th or Dec 7th...but Cinco di Mayo is! Go figure.
My “loose” Christianity is also something the laws, media, system, and intellectuals tell me I should be ashamed of and keep really private. I am sure that a seven story high project of a cross somewhere downtown my town would have drawn more attention and legal challenges than the project of the Mosque or the Mormon temple. Does it look like there is a global agenda to cure America from its Judeo-Christian traditions? I was having a conversation about the Mosque, and the Temple. I was trying to make the point that the edifices were more like a statement than places of devotion. Sure enough, I was quickly reminded that the whole process that led to the construction permits was legal and that there was nothing anybody could do about it. Sure enough, I was also finger pointed as a bigot, maybe racist, but certainly intolerant individual. I tried to make the case that forever communities of other faiths have freely practiced their religion in my town. I stated that we had opened our town to variety, multiculturalism, and many religions. Am I just resenting the fact that today, our guests feel like they can make my town look a little more like one of theirs? Am I intolerant? Should I join their faith to make them feel really comfortable in my town, in YOUR country? Or should I become more of an “integrist” because forced to choose a camp and define myself as a member of a specific group?
As far as my French side goes, no comment! The French position on the war on Iraq got me more trouble than I was expecting because my country did not buy the intelligence the Bush administration, the bi-partisan military, intelligence, and defense committees, the many oversight committees, Republican and Democrat elected officials, bought and approved when it was fashionable to be Gung-Ho and patriotic.
So here it is…for some reason, I still strongly feel French and do not want to get the US citizenship “just to get a better job”. For some reason, I believe that wanting to be an American should be something above and beyond getting a pay check, and for some reason, I am not sure anymore of what being an American means. I know that America is not the strong culture and model that used to assimilate worldwide waves of immigrants anymore. Maybe something has happened to the American model and culture, something that makes all the different ethnic and religious groups live side by side in their traditional ways instead of melting in.
From the melting pot to the salad bowl! Diversity in the name of equality for the American quilt, the “fuzzy woozy” patchwork of different bits and pieces legally sown together to create something that looks warm and beautiful! Is it a failure? Is the European American culture the weakest? Where will America be in twenty years? Is “navelism” and the immediate fulfillment of any needs enough to create a strong culture? Your call!

Workplace Violence Part II
Dr. Lionel C.M. von

Across America and the rest of the world the message, at first glance, seems clear: Human time bombs are ticking throughout the Fortune 500. Driven by fear of disgruntled workers that now verges on hysteria, companies are forming threat-assessment teams and violence hotlines. Security directors have dusted off Cold War jargon and now talk of “target hardening.” After repeated queries from psychologists and corporate security officials, Hillson Research, developer of pre-employment tests, introduced a test aimed at establishing a job candidate’s propensity for violence. One indicator: Reckless driving.
Some companies are so skittish they won’t discuss their antiviolence efforts. Motorola Corp. is said by managers of other companies to have developed a comprehensive antiviolence plan but a spokesperson declined to comment for fear of somehow making the company a target.
But just how violent is the American workplace? The answer depends in large part on how you define workplace, and what kinds of crime you include. One thing is certain, however: The fear that a co-worker could suddenly “go postal,” as some now put it, is grossly exaggerated. It can happen; it does happen; but how often? A federal census of workplace homicides released in 2004 found that 59 employees were killed by co-workers or former co-workers in 2003 out of a total national workforce of 120.8 million people. That is one in 2.1 million. The National Weather Service puts the odds of getting struck by lightning at one in 600,000. Nonetheless, if that one in 2.1 million is a family member or loved one, these statistics mean absolutely nothing to you.
Herewith, the anatomy of misplaced fear: How a series of horrendous mass murders, overblown news reports, widely misinterpreted research, and emerging army of consultants have driven companies to a fear of their own co-workers that is largely unjustified. Executives are scared to death but for the wrong reasons.
Until lately (1980s), no one spent much time thinking about workplace violence. It became a distinct category of crime only after murders by disgruntled employees captured the nation’s attention and caused reporters and researchers alike to hunt for evidence of a new crisis. Only as recent as 1992, for example, did federal researchers standardize criteria to be used by medical examiners for determining whether a murder occurred on the job.
But workplace violence is not new. By current definition, the category would include attacks on the Pony Express riders, even the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre of 1929, in which mobsters killed seven people at the S.M.C. Cartage Co. in Chicago. Criminologists, however, date the current preoccupation to Patrick Henry Sherrill’s 1986 attack on an Edmond, Oklahoma, post office, which killed 14 people and wounded six.

Many factors contribute to the violence rampant in the United States, other than the nightly mayhem of murder on television screen and in the movies. Nearly 50 years of an economy that depends on war or the constant preparation for war is a factor.
The increasingly superficial nature of society is another, because it undermines real values and produces a moral vacuum. For example, we have reached an absurd level of celebrity worship centering around movie stars, TV personalities, sports figures, etc., many of whom have little substance to give either the present or the future.
It is also common for petty gangsters, white collar criminals, and the totally bizarre to receive vast media attention. At the same time, people dedicated to improving the quality of life in America – and peace and justice in the world – are ignored; virtually shut out of the establishment media.
This is sadly evident in popular television programs such as Jerry Springer, etc. These programs have degenerated to a degree of bad taste and utter idiocy not dreamed of in former times. In this context, the role of the establishment media is dismal. This includes political-type interview programs with the same conservative or liberal guests time and again. When, for example, is the last time a person with a new idea or vision of the future appeared on a national television program? This sterile reporting and presentation of views by the media and its favored guests, along with the obsession with escapism and celebrity worship, significantly contributes to the moral vacuum and confused values of today.
The problem is that the media is owned and operated by corporate America for the sole purpose of selling products, and this entity, views the entire country as one giant marketplace where the only thing that counts is what sells. This selling idea has become so pervasive that even individuals seeking employment are told they must “sell themselves” to prospective employers, as if human worth is nothing more than a piece of merchandise.
Not to bore you, I will produce this in three parts; we have two remaining. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

How To Survive A Poisonous Snake Attack
HOW TO TREAT A BITE
-
Wash the bite with soap and water as soon as you can.
-
Immobilize the bitten area and keep it lower than the heart.
This will slow the flow of the venom.
-
Get medical help as soon as possible.
A doctor should treat all snakebites unless you are willing to bet your life that the offending snake is nonpoisonous. Of about eight thousand venomous bites a year in the U.S., nine to fifteen victims are killed. A bite from any type of poisonous snake should always be considered a medical emergency. Even bites from nonpoisonous snakes should be treated professionally, as severe allergic reactions can occur. Some Mojave rattlesnakes carry a neurotoxic venom that can affect the brain or spinal cord, causing paralysis.
-
Immediately wrap a bandage tightly two to four inches above the bite to help slow the
venom if you are unable to reach medical care within thirty minutes.
The bandage should not cut off blood flow from a vein or artery. Make the bandage loose enough for a finger to slip underneath.
-
If you have a first aid kit equipped with a suction device, follow the instructions for
helping to draw venom out of the wound without making an incision.
Generally, you will need to place the rubber suction cup over the wound and attempt to draw the venom out from the bite marks.
WHAT NOT TO DO
 |
Do not place any ice or cooling element on the bite; this will make removing the venom with suction more difficult. |
 |
Do not tie a bandage or a tourniquet too tightly. If used incorrectly, a tourniquet can cut blood flow completely and damage the limb. |
 |
Do not make any incision on or around the wound in an attempt to remove the venom—there is danger of infection. |
 |
Do not attempt to suck out the venom. You do not want it in your mouth, where it might enter your bloodstream. |
HOW TO ESCAPE FROM A PYTHON
Unlike poisonous snakes, pythons and boas kill their prey not though the injection of venom but by constriction; hence these snakes are known as constrictors. A constrictor coils its body around its prey, squeezing it until the pressure is great enough to kill.
Since pythons and boas can grow to be nearly twenty feet long, they are fully capable of killing a grown person, and small children are even more vulnerable. The good news is that most pythons will strike and then try to get away, rather than consume a full-grown human.
-
Remain still
This will minimize constriction strength, but a python usually continues constriction well after the prey is dead and not moving.
-
Try to control the python’s head and try to unwrap the coils, starting from whichever
end is available.
HOW TO AVOID AN ATTACK
 |
Do not try to get a closer look, prod the snake to make it move, or try to kill it. |
 |
If you come across a snake, back away slowly and give it a wide berth: snakes can
easily strike half their body length in an instant, and some species are six feet or longer. |
 |
When hiking in an area with poisonous snakes, always wear thick leather boots and long
pants. |
 |
Keep to marked trails. |
 |
Snakes are cold-blooded and need the sun to help regulate their body temperature.
They are often found lying on warm rocks or in other sunny places. |

Hey Eric, why does the French need a book on defense and security? The French always cut and run so a book on how “not to do that” is clearly unnecessary.
(lol).
Solomon Jacques
Barcelona, Spain
So the French has a book on national defense. Is it similar to our 911 book? Or is it different? My question to you, Eric, is why do we need another book? Why not consolidate all the information into one big anti-terror manual for all free nations?
Sally Andron
Orlando, Florida
Mister Rawlins wrote, “Workplace homicide is the leading cause of death for women who work”. This is some amazing statistics. That means most women who work will ultimately be killed on the job? And here I was thinking the culprit was sexual harassment (sarcasm).
Dawn Espinoza

How does one stop a pissed off man intending to harm his co-workers, Doc? It seems like a game of chance to me. What is your solution to this growing problem?
Gail VonPepper

Dr. Bjork, although I like your essays, I disagree with your last one on family violence. In October’s issue, you stated, “Children who grow up in violent families are more likely than other children to be violent as teenagers”. I know of many people who grew up in violent families and experienced violence themselves, yet are the most peaceful and caring people one can find. I am one of them.
Sandra Giles
Essex, England
That was necessary information you gave us Doctor Bjork. Children tend to learn from what they see and hear, and when children experience violence, the only avenue for them is to unleash their terror on others. Similar to children who saw their mom beaten by a angry husband, will grow up to do the same. Thanks for enlightening.
Sarah Ann Vaughn

Mr. Torrez, Obama is your new president; our new president. I wish you would get on board with the program and stop your personalized hatred for the man. I am beginning to think you are angry at him because he is black. Or are you?
Latoya Armstrong
Beaufort, SC
At least Obama will not do as bad a job as Bush. There is no way that anyone could hurt his own country like Bush did to us. So Mr. Torres, all your rants about Obama is for naught; he will go down in history as one of the best presidents ever. Finally, how could you call him an “empty suit”? Are you aware of his qualifications?
